Can CBD Help with Memory Loss?

For so long we’ve been taught to stay away from the Cannabis Sativa plant. A plant that is harmful to the human body and mind. A plant we should be fearful of because it can damage brain cells. Stay away from the big, bad marijuana plant! How many times have we heard that throughout our lives? Green plant bad! In fact, cannabis users have long been thought of as people with short-term memory problems due to the “negative” impact of cannabinoids, the active ingredients in cannabis plants, on the brain cells. The top one being THC. THC is a cannabinoid with psychoactive properties that produces a “high” sensation when consumed.

What if we were told this because just the opposite is true? What if we were told this because the C. Sativa plant has so many healing compounds, and the more people who have knowledge of this could destroy the money-making machine of the Medical Industrial Complex, aka Big Pharma? Never forget, if we are able to heal ourselves, it takes away from the never-ending cycle of needing a doctor who will prescribe medication made up of chemicals that can cause another reaction that will make you need yet another prescription, and so on. In other words, a lifelong client pouring money into what we now know, as a corrupt system.

Interestingly, some studies have shown THC to have neuroprotective effects on brain cells. This means that cannabis, instead of killing healthy brain cells, protects them against damage. This discovery sheds new light on the potential use of cannabinoids and can be a game changer in the treatment of memory issues. As for CBD, neuroprotection is believed to be one of the compound’s major roles.

Have we been lied to and/or misinformed all this time?

In light of all we have learned thus far, my answer would be YES. With that being said, it’s up to each individual to come to their own conclusions with the information given.

In previous articles, we’ve talked about how CBD can help with depression and anxiety. We’ve touched on how it can reduce and relieve pain. Most importantly we’ve discussed how CBD interacts with the master regulatory network known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS). From there, it operates on over 65 molecular pathways, which ensures the balanced functioning of ECS and the maintenance of homeostasis. For those who don’t know, homeostasis is aa a term that describes the body at rest… in harmony, if you will.

So, the question remains, can CBD be beneficial to those who suffer from memory loss?

The interaction between CBD and the central nervous system (CNS) is where the cannabinoid manifests its benefits for memory. One of the biggest stereotypes surrounding C. Sativa is that the long-term use of the plant may cause problems with short-term memory due to alleged brain damage. We’ve established CBD and THC are both neuroprotectants, which may cause you to wonder whether those alleged problems are caused by some other properties of these cannabinoids. The fact is that CBD does not cause short-term memory loss. In actuality, it can improve memory and focus, aiding people with cognitive disorders. However, as it turns out, THC can possibly cause short-term memory loss, but here’s what they won’t tell you… It isn’t chronic and it stops once your body flushes it from your system.

Increasing blood flow…

In recent years, CBD has been found to alleviate certain symptoms of memory loss conditions, including different types of dementia. People are turning to CBD oil to treat Alzheimer’s Disease as well as to improve focus and enhance the daily performance of their brains. Studies have found that even something as simple as a single dose of CBD, the main non-psychoactive ingredient in the C. Sativa plant increases blood flow to the hippocampus, which is the area of the brain responsible for memories and learning. Tests have shown that improved blood circulation in parts of the brain responsible for memory can positively impact recollection. Not only that, CBD can decrease levels of excitation in brain cells. This is important because when your brain is overstimulated, it is possible for other health issues to occur.

How CBD can be beneficial to different types of memory loss…

CBD for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Memory Loss

Memory loss triggered by degenerative conditions, such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, is a significant area in which CBD oil has been shown to alleviate inflammation of the brain, reduce oxidative stress, and improve the regeneration of neurons, all of which can help improve cognitive performance.

CBD for Memory Loss Caused by Stress and Anxiety

It has been proven CBD can actually mitigate brain damage caused by physical trauma and severe stress. When phytocannabinoids like CBD are administered to the endocannabinoid system, it strengthens the defensive response, therefore strengthening the memory. Also, because CBD is such a potent anti-inflammatory it can help with memory loss from an injury that caused inflammation to the brain.

CBD for Memory Loss Due to Lack of Focus

Some memory issues are caused by an inability to focus, in these cases, CBD oil may come in handy! Studies have shown the efficacy of CBD as a potential treatment for ADHD. There has also been mention of anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and sleep-regulating properties of CBD, both of which contribute to better memory retention.

In simple terms…

CBD emits benefits that soothe and calm the body and mind. Regular CBD use supports full-body wellness. Physically, CBD can temporarily soothe joint discomfort and muscle tension while mentally bringing peace and calm to stress hormones in the body. This allows you to focus and think more clearly by relieving the stress response and creating a sense of balance, or homeostasis. CBD can also be used to get a good night’s sleep. As the brain works on memory processing and storage while you sleep, quality rest is essential to the brain’s optimal memory function. By falling asleep and staying asleep, you set your brain up for success in its memory comprehension and storage systems.

In the end, by incorporating CBD in your daily life, you will be able to experience the many benefits, including help with memory, derived from this amazing natural product that was once considered to be taboo.
